COS-SECRET: The 3 QUALITIES you absolutely need to check BEFORE buying a wig

Are you looking for a wig for your cosplay, but there are so many that you’re afraid of picking the wrong one?

Let’s take a look at three features you should pay attention to before making your purchase.

First, check the quality of the fiber used. A low-quality wig will be made of very shiny, almost plastic-like fibers that, besides looking fake, are also not heat-resistant. Basically, a little blow-drying could melt your brand-new wig. To avoid this, opt for wigs made of Kanekalon, a soft synthetic fiber with a natural look and heat-resistant properties.

Another important factor to consider is density. To evaluate this, either handle the wig or check the photos of the model you’re considering. A low-quality wig will have a very simple cap and the hair strands will be spaced far apart. A high-quality wig, instead, will have a denser, often embroidered cap, and the rows of hair will be close together. Personally, I rely on this analysis before making any purchase and I automatically discard all websites or wig models that don’t show photos of the cap.

Another factor to consider is color. Low-quality wigs usually have fibers of a single, flat color. It’s better to choose wigs that, while maintaining the same base color, have fibers in slightly different shades. This makes the wig look much more realistic and natural, especially under different lighting conditions.

Keeping an eye on these three factors, I’m sure you’ll be able to make much wiser purchases from now on.
