Hey there, little turtle, and welcome to a new Cosplay Tutorial! Today I’ll show you how I made the Dragonborn’s Steel Sword from the video game The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim. But before diving into the action, I want to remind you that, if you absolutely don’t want to waste days, months, or years making your own patterns, you can download MINE by following this link. Let’s start step by step…
FOAM WORKING
First, take your Patterns (1) and cut out the sword silhouette 3 times (2) from 5 mm foam rolls. Take one of the three copies and remove a central strip that matches the diameter of the rod you’ll use as the core (3).

Once the three layers are glued together, patiently sand the edge of the sword (4).
Now let’s move on to the decorations: cut 2 mm foam strips and glue them onto the hilt, following the pattern design (5). Add some wear marks using the pyrography tool (6).

PRIMING AND PAINTING
As usual, I use acrylic sealer to smooth the blade edge (7) and, as soon as it’s dry, I apply 4 coats of Flexi Paint over the entire sword (8). Now I color everything as shown in the previous video, using both a black base and a top layer of chrome color.
I weather the sword using a mixture of water and black acrylic to make it look more realistic (9) and add faux leather strips to complete the handle.
And you’re done!
